More advice
Be wary of those who are deeply inconsistent in what they say about you in public and in private and whose behaviour is morally abhorrent. (If they are a politician, they are paid to 'use and abuse' in order to get things done and to keep government ticking over).
None of the latter type of people serve a private, charitable interest. They are solely interested in exercising power and authority over people. Some have no interest other than money.

A general guide
"First a false friend,then a true friend" ,the saying goes.
In trade union terms;first,a general secretary,then a branch official; first a curate then the parish priest who speaks his mind. If you prefer,first,a receptionist, then a professional lawyer;Church of Scotland tutor or,then,a Dean. Even more aptly in most instances, a false love proceeds to a true love.
In the case of the military,first a training officer,then a worldly wise commander. In politics,first a drunken politician,then a wise advocate. In the case of a policeman, firstly,an ambitious cop,then a policeman who laughs at a troublesome complainant and takes long periods of leave, someone who is not over-zealous and a manager-nurse,then a doctor who laughs a lot of staff complaints off.
Doctors,true friends or false?
A doctor always winds his or her neck in eventually.
At a certain juncture, a doctor may be forced to accept that his or her first opinion and impression was wrong, seriously wide of the mark. That is what comes of forming an opinion such as it might be, based on circumstantial evidence and a wrong headed assessment of a professional nuisance such as a ward manager or Sinn Fein politician.
That sort of malicious report is a house of cards which brings a doctor or group of doctors to ultimate ruin. Eventually his or her life ends in great tragedy.

A true friend approaches you from your left when he is "under suspicion" from yourself. He passes on your right as does someone who fears you. The latter knows that you will not stab him in the back as he exposes his most vulnerable quarter to you though you may give him a kick up the behind which he may well deserve for insolence and false trading.
A thug will always approach you from your left because he can deliver a glancing blow that way by catching you unawares.
A hooligan will approach you from your left to strike or injure you first.
Therein lies the heart of the matter.
