The rules of society and,on most occasions, normal human decency mean that when a politician has been approached to help someone and his negligence leads to death, he will immediately resign his position or disappear into obscurity. I do not count Africans or Asians in any country as honest politicians who are concerned about.others or share vital information with the authorities.
Where does the practice of recusing oneself come from? The law. A judge will instantly recuse himself from a criminal case where an injured party has died. Rarely does a judge or politician try to postpone the inevitable.
