Carping criticism and critical carping...or "What's in a song?"...

Lenin in 1913 wrote an article with the above title. It refers to journalists in the socialist and trade union movement.

Today, when the police have switched off , the media harpies in RTE remind us of their fractious, reactionary message by song, seeking to divert attention from privilege-seekers and stultify the senses of the marginalised, downtrodden and poor with endless razzmatazz.

So TURN DOWN the volume and SWITCH OFF the radio and deny this THIEF OF TIME his captive audience.

The worst sort of haelion on radio in Ireland is a Cork or Kerry broadcaster. They practice the art of firstly of the slieveen and secondly of the gombeen man giving out false information about their listeners whereabouts. You will find that like a Tyrone man in radio broadcasting in Northern Ireland, the aim is mischief. The only proper broadcaster in the South is a through-and-through Dubliner and in the North an Antrim man.

Give over your whingeing, the rest of you in news broadcasting. Nobody except a maniac listens to news current affairs magazine programmes.

The journalist in the South is a defender of big business interests.

His signature cry, when he is not appealing to an audience of one or no more than a few hundred,is a plaintive call of "Foul!".

To the broadcasting network, his carping criticism is designed to have a "resonance" (Kieran Allen) for an individual or a very small  number of listeners. His is the news journalists pursuit of petty-minded revenge for an insult directed at the gods of this world, businessmen.
