After spending almost forty years chasing his tail like a dog,Marx threw in the towel in 1878 declaring,"One thing I know for sure,I am not a Marxist ".
Indeed despite his colourful accounts of contemporary events which have long since passed into the canon of revolutionary literature, he failed utterly to leave any lasting political or valid empirio-scientific views on the state.
We can say the same about Lenin.
Both wandered early from their legal studies to produce narrow political and economic commentaries rather than devoting themselves to an empirical study of the State. As lawyers, they were qualified to do just that. They wrote screeds about the accumulation of wealth in England, America,France and Germany and industrial development in Russia respectively. Those pamphlets were laced with bitter barbs and witty epithets.
They would both have left behind a much longer-lasting legacy if they had concentrated on law and government, the thorny question of policing, the administration of justice and appointment of judges leaving economics to trained economists and imperialism to political scientists trained in world affairs, geopolitics and the conduct of diplomacy.

The state? The Northern Ireland experience
Northern Ireland is a laboratory for police repression and medical crime cooked up in Trump Tower,Hyannis Port and Tuscany by Bill Clinton and the Kennedys, Donald Trump and New York Republicans and Tony Blair and some people from the darker spots of the North of England with the help of some former British soldiers who have served here. Even the Russian Government is interested in becoming involved as are some in the Irish Government and Asia.

Economic determinism
Marxist pedagogy had it that there would be a revolutionary conjuncture both in the early 1850's and late 1870's before the chimera of "a final crisis of capitalism" faded with economic recovery. That recovery came after two years of mass unemployment, deep poverty and numerous bankruptcies and financial ruin for small proprietors followed by consolidation into larger undertakings.
Marx at once knew and forgot simultaneously that economic growth and crisis is cyclical. Only general predictions can or should be made.

Communism
The Christian tradition
Moral equanimity envelopes those who throw out nonsense about " Militant Atheism" as Lenin did in 1919. He had got his feet under the table in 1917. He decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

The moral basis of communism
Read Acts 4:32 for an exposition of Marx's and Lenin's starting point which the world has once again taken but not anywhere known as anything other than Christian charity,
"The whole group of believers was united heart and soul;no one claimed for his own use anything that he had,as everything they owned was held in common.

While it is considered profane by parish priests and the CIA and FBI madmen consider it a capital offence to call oneself a socialist or communist,we must remember that communism has its origins not in the age of primitive cannibals who ate each other when they had nothing else to eat but in the teachings and workings of Jesus of Nazareth despite the ravings of the idle hurler on the ditch and corrupt politicians.

The Communist League
Marx and Engels were not the leaders of anything, not the Communist League nor the Chartists nor the Paris Commune.
The International Workingmen's Association 1864-1872
The English trades unionists who became involved in the International Workingmen's Association, the French, the Belgians, the Germans and and putschists deserted Marx as did the Dutch and Germans Lenin forty years later.
Engels?
It is only bookworms and university students who have heard of Engels. However, the truth is nuanced because he constructed most of the theory of revolution.
Why no mass US socialism and revolution in the 1930's?
There, working people realised that the Marxism-Leninism Institute and English and German scholars were telling them made-up stories and talking nonsense about 'signs and wonders' in the 1930's in the Soviet Union and that labour and democratic politicians knew domestic circumstances much better and offered real progress.

....Who then was the leader of the Communist League? It was, of course, Wilhelm Weitling who went to America to taste the sweet milk of freedom and died a well-to-do inventor...not the tubercular scholar in a dingy New York tenement of the Akkademie Verlag's imagination..WEITLING was a CHRISTIAN.

Police intrigue?
What is to be observed in Marx's abandonment by the union syndicates who he tried to unite and enlighten between 1864 and 1872?
We can see a contemporary 'Messiah' of the working class and,in his abandonment by those he tried to unite for peaceful progress towards socialism (1872), a brilliant advocate disabused of his high hopes by anarchist and English craft workers.
Regarding those who likewise set out to isolate and impoverish socialists,we can quote Pope Francis," Anyone who tries to isolate someone is doing the work of The Evil One".

Ireland in our times?
Isolation is a political-military tactic.
As regards the mad 'Colonel' Con Ahearn of the Irish Army who had me attacked in Dublin at the beginning of his descent into paranoid psychosis in an apoplexy of counter-insurgency madness; this lunatic is a fascist psychopath who should be brought to trial for being a party before the fact to attempted murder. He is typical of the hooligans and scum of all classes attracted to the Irish Army.
My "crime" ?

To return to the opening quote from Karl Marx, why Marx's volte face in 1878?
Perhaps,it was concerns about melancholia on his own part or morphine-induced necrosis of the liver judging by his later appearance or,fresh from his success with his three volumes of Capital,a certain new found respectability and independence and self-assurance and feeling that,as a world- renowned author he could, like Engels (1843) "settle accounts with his neo-Hegelian past" and say ,as he wrote to Engels about his many literary works,"Well grubbed,Old Mole!"
By 1878, Marx had come into his own in Germany with the maturation of Social Democracy.

The state
In writing about "occult intelligence" in his Introduction to Capital (1866-1867),he came close to the source of mine and most Irish people's concerns.
In his literary masterpiece, The Civil War in France (1871),he and Engels cut even closer to the bone. It is THE POLICE and ARMY who pose the greatest risk to DEMOCRACY and HUMAN FREEDOM and even life itself. That he realised as a doctoral student but could not see very lucidly at times. This feature of modern society is something Sinn Fein and Irish republicans and democrats can see crystal clear. In my case, I did so in September 1982,if not earlier, much earlier.
A superstructure?
The state does have political and economic attachments but when we remove the possibility to kill by police and to degrade by doctors, the rest is easy. Then, the rich have no means to ride roughshod over the majority of rightless people caught in the headlights of police repression and medical violence. For those who support the British Labour Party, medical brutality is an uncomfortable reality which they cannot come to terms with but ignore at their peril.

To return to my theme, while most level-headed people consider that both Marx and Lenin were great historical figures,I find one thing about all "greats" of socialism very strange as a law graduate peering through the distorting prism of history and the literature authored by Marx and Lenin...Why did Marx and Lenin not concentrate their studies on the State,a book Marx promised himself to write in Grundrisse in 1857-1858?
Lenin had a stab at this task in 1916,the State and Revolution. His wife reported that he intended to write extraordinary amounts, namely,"an encyclopedical compendium" (Moorehead,The Russian Revolution).
