Trade unions. Mutual benefit or friendly societies

General trade unions are for the low and middle income brackets. There is no place for the rich or well-off in a trade union. However, some of the wealthy socialists are sympathetic to the poor.

If you join a trade union and go to union meetings you will meet a lot of obstruction and false traders. Stay the course and pay your membership fees on time. I am and I do.

Thatcherism

Someone who tries to put an obstacle in the way of you paying your union subs or joining a union of your choice may well be in Northern Ireland and England a police agent or Military Intelligence spy. Amongst those who I have met are Eddie Sexton, Tony Bonham,Ian Reader,Terry Bolger,Albert Mc Cready aka Brendan Mc Cormack,Gregor Kerr,Tom Mc Donnell,Sean Cullen,Mike Allen (Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed/British Army/MI5), Jim Hayes,Mick Costello, Christine Freeburn (RUC/PSNI),Linda Adams (British Military Intelligence/RUC/PSNI), Marie Cunningham (British Military Intelligence),Stefan Dax (FBI/New York Board of Psychiatry/ Sicherheitsdienst), Tony Viney (British Military Intelligence),Dan Blake (23 SAS Intelligence/ Special Military Intelligence Unit,Lisburn),George Flanagan (RUC Special Branch/MI5),and George Anderson (RUC Special Branch/MI5).

One possible conclusion?

We do not live in a free society.

Rules?

Rule One:You must be of good character and be in employment, sick, disabled, retired, unemployed, an apprentice or self-employed.

Rule Two:You must accept trade union rules and policy and defend it in public. As regards Unite the Union's policy on abortion, divorce, contraception and 'gay'rights, there is a 'private conscience' exemption for believers. Members must not undermine trade union organisation and discipline or threaten other union members, something which happens all to often when there are workplace tensions with wishy-washy types. A member or lay officer or official must not contravene union democracy. Members are expected to stay within reasonable bounds in criticism of union policy.

Rule Three:PAY YOUR MEMBER'S SUBSCRIPTIONS on time and in full. Note that Haughey said to Lynch,"Stop acting like a curmudgeon when it comes to dues."

....

REMEMBER, "We have nothing to lose and  everything to gain by trade union membership and VOTE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST always". IGNORE EXTREMISTS and PAY NO HEED TO OLD WIVES' TALES that trade unions are a thing of the past. Those people always let you down and set you up for arrest. They talk a lot of old superannuated piffle. In Ireland, they do nothing for anyone and are living off the proceeds of excise fraud and paramilitary crime.

The Golden Rule of personal and moral hygiene when you are unionised

Don't let someone who isn't a member of a trade union or nursing body or other professional body or the Irish Farmers Association into your house.

How do trade unions overcome negative banter spread by airheads. By airheads,I refer to Malachy Mc Roe (Cushendall), Jev Koren (Templepatrick) and Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair,Peter Mandelson, Jonathan Powell, Alasdair Campbell,Donald Trump,Cecil Parkinson, Norman Fowler, Norman Tebbit,Cecil Baker, Geoffrey Howe,Ruairi O Bradaigh,Brian Mc Cartney,Charlie Mc Clintock,Michael Lavelle,Joe Mallon (alias Kevin Beatty) and Michael Mc Manus and similarly minded paramilitary  thugs?( They create political obstruction as does every political party on the planet particularly Sinn Fein and the DUP).

Jim Quinn had the answer in 2003 " We'll get him in the long grass" as regards Sean "Megabucks" Quinn or as the Malaysians say,"Softlee, softlee, catchee monkey".

An Anglo-Saxon sobriquet on speaking your mind?

Remember Jack Jones words,"It is only in a trade union that a working man is allowed to speak his mind."

However, these days because of the influence of professional Anglo-Saxon politicians and their fellow travellers in union ancillary occupations, usually low-down,there is precious little real democracy or heated discussion.

In the final analysis, the only tactic for an unwary stranger or innocent abroad who wants to get something done in labour affairs which he can tell his grandchildren about, something to be truly proud of,which despite public appearances and received wisdom he was solely responsible for is to speak honestly  and forcefully is to argue your case forcefully where union intervention is required.

My battle with Trotskyite and Marxist airheads in the ATGWU?

My record is clear-the unionisation of Quinn Group activities. Despite the negative banter of drunken publicans' wives and political  lightweights who knew nothing about labour matters. Amongst the latter breed of misfit we count Robin Martin and Pat Cox and small farmers in the Tempo, Lack, Donagh/ Roslea and Derrylin/ Teemore/Ballinamore areas who are to be found in every public house and hotel in their locality holding forth on the wit and wisdom of the village idiot and country bumpkin.

A reply to the countryman?

As the worldly wise barman would say when he wants to lock up,"Last orders, please!" and, finally," Have ye no homes to go to?"

The IRA in Fermanagh and the unionisation of workers?

People gan fuil,gan fiu!

Whatever little good the IRA may have done as regards the British Army, any progress was reversed many times over by people like Gerry Adams and Owen Carron. People who want to be taken seriously do not dabble in trivial pursuits and nationalist politics, what is known in Britain as politicking.

The industrious worker?

The heart and soul of any trade union or craft association is people who work hard and perform their task diligently. They are a match for any businessman, union-buster drawn from the ranks of the constabulary or tradesman in country areas. Many of the latter are in an invidious relationship with large farmers. The aforementioned is a hung-his-mother type of Orange employer who refuses to pay you your wages and someone who lives off the back of the consumer and British Government.

The latter breed of parasites was created by the Irish Nationalist Party and the Orange Order which seeks to exercise social control by way of restricting employment. They act in association with the mentally handicapped and street nuisances. That was something they taught to everybody on the island because welfare benefits are not restricted to honest, thrifty workers. Those benefits are accessible to all including  layabouts and people who wouldn't work in a fit, late-night or early morning drinkers, spliff-smokers, chronic gamblers, alcoholics and losers and gossips in French or Italian cars.

Why join a trade union?

At the summit of Irish society sit ruthless, greedy landlords and spivs in well-tailored suits with expensive watches on their arm. Their earnings are the proceeds of fraud, 'renting',crime and dealing in drugs and stolen property, Patrick Joseph Manley and Vincent Davidson and Noel Ryan and Seamus Mellie being some examples of the type..

22.8.2021

The future of trade unionism?

Trade unionists should interest their children and the unorganised in joining a trade union. For the student, there is the professional body. The professions are well organised,so it is time for a consistent and uniform approach to union recruitment and imaginative ways for trade unions to reach out to the young.

Fresh forces! Fresh forces! Fresh forces for the good fight!

Britain and Ireland?

How are we to get building sites unionised again?

This has been the burning question for trade unionists in the North of England since the arrival of the Mayo bogmen in Leeds in the 1930's led by Frank Durkan,a perfectly useless sort of Irishman and a gombeen like Albert Reynolds.

As with the Shrewsbury pickets, the key is mobility though legislation is required regarding the repeal of laws on solidarity action. Parliament should not repeal of the rules on strike ballots.

....

Politics and trade unionism?

Young members of Unite the Union, pay the political subscription. Those of you in England who have left, rejoin the Labour Party and desist from leftwing rhetoric. Labour will weather its current storms. Working men of Ireland, embrace the English as brothers and sisters and give over your chewing the fat.

Me, socialism? July-August 1988?

The ephemera which I held out in my dramatis persona (" Ci sono barbari","What is to be Done-The Sequel") in 1988 of information technology, the 'digital-audio link-up' and 'free' markets was a retreat from socialism, state centralism and a scarcely prepared plan for democratic progress. One step forward, two steps back but it was a time for prisoners of past revolutions to stop hankering after a utopia which never existed.

Remember,"These are the good ol' days" (Fern Kinney). Begin ever anew and recharge your batteries to burst forward with renewed energy and vigour.

"Just one question that I'd like to ask..."

If  you are in a trade union, you do not have to tolerate nuisance and intimidation from neighbours or strangers.
.
Ask a wrongdoer simply,"Do you want your bins emptied?".

That practice is what is known as 'blacking' someone's bins.

Take action or the problem will get worse. Trade unionists, tolerate no nonsense from GAA pisstanks or drunken assholes. Tell them openly what you intend to do in straightforward language.

Alternatives to organisation of workers?

The Provos, endeavoured to mimic the Orange Order with florid ideaisation and nonsense statements. Everyone knew that the Provos were corner-boys,no different from loyalists at heart, just thugs armed by the Irish Government and US Army. The latter aimed to supplant trade unions. Fired up to fits of regular frenzy, they spread their tentacles into every nook and cranny in Ireland.

We still have  various types of old bores with us. A parcel of misguided youth claim to be the Provos heirs and rightful inheritors of a patriotism long dead. Be that as it may,the Provos who I joined did next to nothing for me unless it was intended to forestall repayment of long overdue debts for work done and tasks performed.

Wake up,Irishmen! The IRA is NOT a trade union or trade association and it is not capable of defending or helping anyone. Its few remaining members are old or incapacitated. Over its entire existence the IRA like the Free State Army savages who organised and participated in most of its activities was guided by nationalist bullshit.
Few outside its ranks, regretted its winding-up by the leadership after a democratic decision of all real players.

There is in Britain and Ireland only one proper union whose affairs are entirely above board and fair, particularly in terms of dismissals or unjust treatment, apart that is from SIPTU in the South, and that union is Unite the Union.  It is the only union which caters for the poor and unemployed.

However, the TUC pays no heed to Sharon Graham or any Unite official because the TUC is run by apparatchiks and merchants of doom and people such as Terry Carlin. The Irish Congress of Trades Unions are an even bigger bunch of feminist and leftist malcontents.

Other unions in the UK

Unison used to be run well but its affairs have been in chaos for over thirty years. Its shop stewards and officials like those of all public service unions regard their task as keeping the government informed about left-wing elements and the discontented within their union. You join it or its affiliates such as the RCN at your peril.

Francie Mackey is no different from any other trade union official and he falls under the general title of informer to MI 5 and MI 6. He works for both and was very useful to the police concerning the Omagh Bomb. He was infiltrated as a "deep penetration agent". (That goes to prove that money speaks all languages). He was well paid but had to play the 'poor mouth' until he was sent by Tony Blair and Brown to spy on others who the police were deeply concerned about. Only legal intervention stopped Anne Maguire, Claire Conway and Mackey stripping me of all effective rights before the courts.

We all know that drunken, unemployed bums who will not pay £3.03 for Community membership of a trade union are no good to anyone and that Sinn Fein's constituency is the welfare-dependent echelons of society. They are almost invariably of no use to anyone and are mere spectators and in-house coffee drinkers and tale-bearers.

A trade union can try to cater for these people who are not in work but it can only try.

Most unemployed have been out of work or unoccupied for a long period so we must abandon hope for them. No new work opportunities appeal to this damaged and redundant part of society which has been pushed aside by the chargehands and foremen and managers for more lucrative openings and younger worker.

The unions only succumbed to pressure from myself and others for reduced membership fees out of love of their proud, self-righteous officials and socialists, both of whom wanted to turn community membership into a sop to their conscience, having fingered their radical opponents to employers and police.

There is an increasingly unfashionable word and it is class or socialism.

The concept of labour organisation is based on class.

All classes have their own set of penmen, members of the intelligentsia, but the intelligentsia like the clergy exist at the expense of society. We can only conclude that they are a necessary evil and the alternative is barbarism.

The intelligentsia furnish politics and trade unions with its representatives and officials, respectively.

But,why talk of class?

Class or the solid united body of people who compose the wealth producers is united but the ruling class is not. One aims for long-term stability and predictability in social affairs whereas the exploiters are about opportunistic benefit and short-term gain.

Therefore,we say, exploiter and spokesman for capitalist exploitation is a surfeit for society which must be borne with sufferance.

Socialism underscores most of Western society in one way or other and it is in an attract-repel relation with the government as in the marriage relationship or in the world of electrical eons existing within the atom.

Despite setbacks in the receding past, real socialism steps gaily forward in most countries though voting preferences are increasingly dictated by a lack of meritocracy and anti-immigrant sentiment.

6.1.2025

This spring marks the thirtieth  anniversary of my campaign to unionise Quinn Quarries and Quinn Industrial Holdings.

That campaign turned out to be the main theme of my activities for the following fifteen years, not bearing success for many years. Most of the activity was conducted by agitation and word of mouth, something scorned by a little Sinn Fein bollocks called Sean Lynch.

The first breakthrough was the work not of myself but of my brother who unionised the workers in Doon Quarry by drawing 820 workers into SIPTU.

There was an agreement in August 2004 with Nigel Mc Kinney (Derry) and Pat Mc Cormack )Cavan) to keep within prevailing trends and traditional, regional preferences.

The Northern Quinn workers were drawn into the Unite union by Donal O Cofaigh and Padraig Murphy with the close support of Brendan Heuston and the leading role was played as my father anticipated in August 1994 by the ATGWU/Unite branch official,Jim Quinn (Drumcor Hill, Enniskillen).

Sean Lynch and the Sinn Fein mockers looked on from the sidelines and tried to keep the conglomerate's workers leaderless and atomised and at their employers' mercy.
